Tony Emerson-Zetina

Tony’s career has focused on K12 teaching, educational research, and philanthropy. He was drawn to education as a young adult given his own story as a former foster child who found success in education due to the care of teachers and other loving adults in his life. He’s excited to support SFUSD and its work to educate students across San Francisco, with a focus on improving learning for students of color.

He’s currently the Senior Program Officer of Education and Economic Mobility at Crankstart Foundation. In that capacity, Tony leads the foundation’s grantmaking towards improving early childhood education, educator diversity, postsecondary opportunity, and workforce pathways for young adults and workers.

Tony holds degrees from Gonzaga University and Harvard University. He lives in Oakland with his wife.
