Support John Muir Elementary Students and Families

John Muir Elementary School continues to have one of the highest populations of students experiencing homelessness in SFUSD.

Additionally, this year, Muir has welcomed many more students and families who are newcomers to the United States.

We are experiencing a deep need for additional support to help our homeless and newcomer families navigate the social systems, not only of the district but of the US as well, so that they can find stable housing and employment, and purchase basic needs for their families.

We are so lucky to have a family room at Muir where families can cook food, wash their clothes, and rest during the day. This room needs to be stocked regularly with laundry detergent, cooking supplies, utensils, and toiletries. Additionally, we are hoping to purchase more comfortable furniture, like a couch, for our families to use in the room for the next school year.

Once again, in partnership with Jefferson Elementary, we are hoping to raise $25,000 before the start of the 2024-25 school year to purchase basic need supplies for our families at Muir and to fund a part-time family liaison position to help support our most vulnerable children’s education.

We truly appreciate any donation you can provide!

With deep gratitude,

The John Muir and Jefferson Elementary Schools Community
